2016 reading challenge
I set my goal at 50 books – kinda pushing myself this year. It’s not easy with two little humans fighting for my time and working full time, planning school, dinners, working out, etc. But, I’m happy to say I’m not that far behind, maybe 2 books and I’ll be caught up. 🙂 Yay to small victories.
How is everyone doing this year with their reading challenge?
Any particularly great books that I should add to my ‘to read’ list?
Yoga – meditation – shrink session – therapy – whatever you call it, that’s reading for me.
According to Dr. Seuss: The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.
My five year old is a huge Tinker Bell fan. What better way to bring her play world outdoors? I love this idea by A Farm Girl’s Life. Thank you for the post 🙂
We have an old stump in the backyard that we can transform into something similar. Can’t wait to share this and explore that great imagination of hers. Dream big, little princess. The sky is no longer the limit…
At A Farm Girl’s Life, Allison shows how you can make an adorable little fairy house out of a hollow tree stump.

New creation by the team @ Happy Endings. This was a special order for the baby shower of a close friend of one of the girls from Happy Endings.

Man of Steel for the softer/female/emotional audience. I have to say that it was a pleasant surprise to watch a superman film that was so in touch with emotions and hit close to real life struggles. Great retelling. The actors did a great job. Excited for the rest of the films.
I’m glad I found this series by J.C. Reed. I enjoy her writing and look forward to reading more of her work.
I really didn’t expect to like this one but I’m glad I read it. After the end of Surrender Your Love, I just had to see what happened next.
Yes, the love scenes border on too much but oh man they are nice and spicy. Overall, nice continuation to the story and the mystery thrown in there was quite nice.
I love Jett’s character and his dominance. Although that is a played out theme right now with so many alpha males in current romance books, Jett has enough of the right mix of dominance, love, and respect to make him loveable.
Brooke seems to me like one of those girls that swoons over hot guys, regardless of the danger they pose. Who can blame her with Jett around? Because I like Jett, I understood her reactions to him and was happy to see her come to terms with their attraction as well.
Now I’m waiting patiently for book 3, Treasure Your Love, to see how their HEA turns out.
My 1st 1/2 marathon. I was standing there waiting for the gun to go off, signaling the start of the run. I kept thinking: This is it.
What a rush! Crossing the finish line was a moment that changed me. Even more memorable was that I ran/completed the marathon with my husband. I hope to do a full before I’m 30. The clock is ticking…..
My reading challenge for the year was to read 100 books. I am 50% complete, which means I am 6 books ahead of schedule. So far I’ve come across good and bad. I’ll skip the bad but share the good…
The good (in no particular order):
A Beautiful Struggle
Pieces of You
Surrender Your Love
Damaged (H.M. Ward)
The Edge of Never
Casual Enchantment Series (all books so far)
The Mighty Storm
Beauty from Pain
Reflected in You
Stop the Wedding
Bared to You
I’m very excited about reaching my goal early, but just getting there will be a huge milestone. I hope you are all having a great Wednesday.
What are your reading goals for the year? Any other interesting goals?
In my quest to eat clean, lift mean, and live lean….I’ve come across some pretty awesome people that have helped me tremendously. This photo is one I pull up often when I want to remind myself that there are no limits to what I can achieve and my biggest obstacle is only myself. I’m trying really hard to eat clean. That’s the last and hardest leg of my journey. My daughter is now 2 and I’m not back to my prebaby weight yet. I often get discouraged but I see pictures of what I can do when I put my mind to it and I push forward. One day at a time. One meal at a time.
I’m doing a 12 week online challenge (against no one, just a personal challenge) and am currently on week 4. This is the fist week that I have actually eaten clean all the way through. Protein, lean meat, green salads/veggies, the whole nine. It feels great. I’m supper proud of my progress this week. While I’ve been more than tempted to reach for the bad foods, I’ve stuck it out and the reward is sweet!
This week alone my waist line is looking trimmer, my arms are toning up, and my legs are getting serious definition.
I’m not looking to be a bodybuilder or anything along those lines. I simply want to reach a happy place where I know I’m the best ME. I’m a step closer everyday. Whew! Feels good to have come this far. This is my lifestyle now. I workout everyday, plan my meals, and when I lay down at night…I feel proud of my hard work.
Sure some days I’m so sore I can barely walk, but I stretch and hit it again. HAM! My body is slowing changing. WOW that feels good. Since eating is the hardest, I’m taking the time to plan so I can succeed. I’m prepared and therefore I’m not likely to fall into the temptation had I not had all my healthy items ready to go. Healthy choices::healthy life!
Absolutely love this song/video. Thank you for the post DatsMaStyle. Reblog/reshare 🙂
