ING Miami 1/2 marathon

ING Miami 1/2 marathon

My 1st 1/2 marathon. I was standing there waiting for the gun to go off, signaling the start of the run. I kept thinking: This is it.
What a rush! Crossing the finish line was a moment that changed me. Even more memorable was that I ran/completed the marathon with my husband. I hope to do a full before I’m 30. The clock is ticking…..

Fitness Friday

In my quest to eat clean, lift mean, and live lean….I’ve come across some pretty awesome people that have helped me tremendously. This photo is one I pull up often when I want to remind myself that there are no limits to what I can achieve and my biggest obstacle is only myself. I’m trying really hard to eat clean. That’s the last and hardest leg of my journey. My daughter is now 2 and I’m not back to my prebaby weight yet. I often get discouraged but I see pictures of what I can do when I put my mind to it and I push forward. One day at a time. One meal at a time.
I’m doing a 12 week online challenge (against no one, just a personal challenge) and am currently on week 4. This is the fist week that I have actually eaten clean all the way through. Protein, lean meat, green salads/veggies, the whole nine. It feels great. I’m supper proud of my progress this week. While I’ve been more than tempted to reach for the bad foods, I’ve stuck it out and the reward is sweet!
This week alone my waist line is looking trimmer, my arms are toning up, and my legs are getting serious definition.
I’m not looking to be a bodybuilder or anything along those lines. I simply want to reach a happy place where I know I’m the best ME. I’m a step closer everyday. Whew! Feels good to have come this far. This is my lifestyle now. I workout everyday, plan my meals, and when I lay down at night…I feel proud of my hard work.
Sure some days I’m so sore I can barely walk, but I stretch and hit it again. HAM! My body is slowing changing. WOW that feels good. Since eating is the hardest, I’m taking the time to plan so I can succeed. I’m prepared and therefore I’m not likely to fall into the temptation had I not had all my healthy items ready to go. Healthy choices::healthy life!

Body Transformation

26 Jun

College or having kids or just a change in lifestyle can have a huge impact on our bodies and nutrition. Six months after having my daughter I knew I had to make changes if I wanted to get back in shape and feel healthy again. Not only make the changes for me but I want to set an example for my family that living healthy and exercising have great advantages.

It feels great to hear my friends and coworkers tell me that I’m getting back to my pre-baby body, that I’m starting to look like my old self again. It definitely keeps me motivated to hear their positive feedback. My clothes are slowly starting to fit again. I also love reading inspiring stories, such as the body transformation that Kelsey shares on bodybuilding.com. Her story serves as a reminder that if I want to reach my goal, it will take time and hard work, dedication. I will not give up or be discouraged because it’s not happening overnight. My hope is to have reached my goal (pre-baby weight) by the end of this year. I feel that’s a realistic goal and will give me the time to get there and keep my body healthy. I’m currently about 75% there but the last 25% are proving to be the toughest. The weight is not coming off as fast anymore. This means it is time to analyze my game plan, make changes to my meals, and get aggressive at the gym/cross-fit/running.

The bottom of Kelsey’s article has a great gym routine that can be incorporated with about any form of cardio.

Goal change:

1. Eat smaller portions, 4-6 times a day. PORTION CONTROL!

2. Add cardio in the AM 3x’s a week. I’m going to move my running time to the AM, before work/school, and fasting.

3. On my non-cross-fit days, up my weights at the gym with less rest time in between exercises.

Wish me luck!!
